You CAN tell it's colored ink, but only if you're really paying attention. I have dark blonde lashes (slightly darker than my brows) and they still don't look as light as I expected. I probably won't use it often because it's a big pain to remove. Last night I applied it, washed my face with regular cleanser, which is usually enough to remove makeup, but that didn't happen. Then I used a cleanser to remove makeup. I haven't understood everything yet. Eventually I gave up, went to bed and woke up with bits still stuck to my lashes. An A+ for a durable but sacred cow is what's frustrating about not being able to just take it off.
