If I plug directly into the USB port that comes behind the radio the Android Auto works. When I plug it into the controller's USB port and use the same cable, I keep getting disconnects. so useless in my case. I can try to core it and use it to keep the plug away from the main unit, but I could do that with a plug. and yes. it fits freely. swing around although it didn't really bother me. it looked beautiful. really wanted it to work. Waste of $14 and waste of time now that I have to get back into the dash.
