Cute doll but the music box sucks

Quality doll. The hair on this one is particularly adorable. But the hair is not combed because of the small braids. The child will ruin the braids when trying to comb the hair. DOLL: The dresses are cute and well packed. If you enjoy collecting these dolls, you will likely enjoy both this and this new series. Be careful when opening and removing the doll as hair can easily get caught. Small hair tags can get caught on braids. Braids are similar to swags braids. So if you've had trouble with swag, this might be similar. The dresses are cute and fit well. Still comes with shoe box and round box. In this series, the hands seem more rigid. At least the ones I had. Some dolls from previous series had free hands. The doll is a beautiful new addition to the OMG LOL line. PACKAGING: To be honest, packing a music player on it is a waste of time. This is a trick. The box unfolds into a music player. The box itself is basically designed to pretend that the player's battery will make it work. The songs are more like a commercial for LOL dolls. The entry itself is useless. You don't need it to play the song. You can simply pull the tab where the battery compartment is located and then twist the knob on the music box once and the music will play. You don't have to keep flipping it to keep the music playing. It's like a button you push, just turn the button. The record only pretends. It comes with a big single color vinyl record, but it doesn't really spin on the turntable box or anything. You can turn the knob by hand to make it play music if you want to pretend, but you don't have to. The music is really loud and works, but I'd rather have a little sister like the Winter Disco series or just pay less for a doll like a different series. An extra $10 for a cardboard music box is a waste of time. Kids might like it because it's unique, but it's still a $10 cardboard box. If it came with a musical instrument, a mini-doll sized tape recorder, it would be much better. In the new large box, each doll has a working musical instrument. While it's nice to reuse cardboard boxes, that box ends up wasting more cardboard and getting folded and thrown away anyway. I hate the amount of waste there is in packaging these dolls. The doll has its own collection of songs. The cardboard box plays music that sounds like the doll is singing her own lyrics in her own unique voice, but the song doesn't last long and sounds like an advertisement. The doll itself does not play music. It would be neat, but no. The box just plays an advertising bell, and that's it. YOU DECIDE: I give her 5 stars though because the doll is a lovely addition to the OMG doll collection. I also expected the music player to be a gimmick, but there's no option to just buy the doll without the music box. $10 extra for the box but if you like the doll you pay for it. So it's as expected.
