Review on 🌬️ Holmes HAP242B-U Small Air Purifier, Black, HEPA-Type Desktop with 3 Speeds and Optional Ionizer by April Bailey

This unit replaced an older model that was much larger, noisier and more cumbersome to clean and replace. This is a good sized unit with 3 speeds and 2 settings and is easier to clean and maintain. At first it smelled like burnt plastic. It takes a few days for this smell to go away. The ionizer mode light is not lit. I'm assuming it's working because of the dust the unit, pre-filter and hepa filters collect. The high speed setting is very loud. I recommend only using this setting when you're not at home or when you can put on headphones to block it out. The 2 lower speeds seem to work well enough and the noise level is tolerable. Most people turn it off when they leave the house. Not me. Keeping the dust level down all the time is not as effective. after a few weeks of use, the new white filter has turned gray and the pre-filter is covered with a lot of fluffy dust. My apartment is very dusty because of the garden outside. I have a very small studio apartment in New York and it seems to be working out well.
