This device is perfect for what I use it for, although I have had to make changes.

I really, really like this DAC for what it does, for the price, and for how it handles volume and bass. I only found one flaw in this unit and that was the power supply. It seems my system (amplifiers, signal processors, etc.) is very sensitive to signal noise. I've had another system in the past where I've had constant AC power fluctuations and/or very high noise from the mids and tweeters. When I connected the device to the included power supply for the first time, I immediately noticed slight AC fluctuations and a very high-pitched squeak. At first I suspected RCA cables, no sir. Then I thought the Toslink cable sucked so I bought a better one, still the same noise. So I finally replaced the PSU with a cleaner, more reliable PSU and the nasty noises are completely gone. I did however add an onboard passive RCA gain control as some sources are very loud and others not so loud so I basically have two volume controls for my home system. So if you buy this device and I recommend it, you may not need to replace the power adapter. Otherwise, the clarity and overall sound this unit converts from my TV is amazing. Audiophile quality for little money. I keep looking for the best device but everything else is in the $200 range.
