Review on Brandmotion 3Rd Brake Light Cargo Camera FLTW-7626 For RAM / Heavy Duty RAM (2014-2018) - Replacement LED Brake Light With Seamless Integration For Factory Or Aftermarket Radio Display by Marco Mooney

So I bought this not knowing I needed the separate wiring harness for the Uconnect 8.4 screen in my 2017 RAM 2500. Directions were fairly straight forward though minimalistic right up until the "connect to head unit" step. Looked and looked and didn't see an available RCA jack on the back of the head unit. Did some research and found the wiring harness for $130 or so on ebay. So I did what any dad would do and decided I was going to pickup a $3.99 toggle switch and splice it into the line from the existing backup camera. Wired it up and it worked but there was a lot of interference. Problem was that I wired all the Video Neg- lines together (Backup Camera, Cargo Camera, Monitor) and routed the Video Pos+ lines through a SPDT switch and all the lines are unshielded. This effectively allowed me to toggle between the two cameras on the UConnect display without having to flash the system or anything but there was a lot of feedback in the image. Fast forward a trip to Home Depot for some 18/2 Shielded Wire and a DPDT toggle switch for $5.99 and I reinstalled everything and now the image doesn't have any feedback.HOWEVER, I will say that the resolution of the camera in the taillight is definitely not on par with the OEM backup camera in the tailgate - which is not all that great to begin with. Its workable in broad daylight or well list environments but horrible in low light or night situations. I'm sure some will attribute this to my installation but the resolution of the OEM camera on the monitor is the same from the stock install and when tested on all the lines I ran through the switch.
