This is unlike any digging tool I've ever used. It's much stronger and incredibly well designed. The O-handle looks a bit odd at first, but once you use it, you realize that's how all shovels should be. It's just so much more convenient and useful. I gave the Root Killer a real workout. I've found that in some places that are quite heavily clogged with tree roots, it just breaks through them with very little effort. For some of the larger roots, like 3 inches or so, you won't be able to dig through the root, but you can rip them apart with a few hits by orienting the saw blade at an angle to the root. Actually it isn't. a regular saw blade in the sense that it only cuts on the downstroke, but that's not a problem for me as I can put all my weight on the blade on the downstroke. The inverted V cutting edge is pretty amazing. I planted a few small conifers in the lawn of my property and found that the shovel went through the sod without resistance. The original description said this shovel could replace a crowbar, and that's absolutely correct. I've done my best to break an old willow tree with no stump and the shovel doesn't bend at all unlike some others I've paid the same or more for. If there was a way to give this one a higher rating than 5 stars, I would definitely do it It's probably the best tool I've ever owned.
