Better than the Shure 535 overall. I'll admit the Shure has incredibly nice mids and highs. But they're uncomfortable and lack bass unless I use long white multi-disk earbuds to get the sound right next to the eardrum. Klipsch, on the other hand, are so comfortable I forget I'm wearing them. In my opinion the bass is a lot better and the mids and highs are excellent but a little less convincing in terms of reliable performance but still a lot better than say vmoda stuff. Soundproofing is also better. Headphones just fit better in my ears. The S5i is excellent and I absolutely love its performance. The control buttons are large, easy to use, and have a premium feel. If you want really good sound, great bass, and really comfortable headphones, give these a try. *** UPDATE *** These earphones are already a year old. Convenient for hours. I worked in construction, rode mountain bikes, went to the gym. I took them off my head and dropped them a couple of times. They have been subjected to violence. They are in excellent condition, like new. Nothing has changed since the purchase a year ago. You sound great. There are no breaks in the material. There are no problems with speakers. Holy cow, these have to be the most durable audiophile headphones ever made. I won't even think of trying anything else if I find a way to break them. I would buy again without hesitation. One of the best purchases I've ever made was for my extremely large music collection of nearly 6,000 songs at the time of writing this.
