It may be my fault for not checking the standard bed and duvet sizes. I do not know. We just bought a double bed and I was happy to order new sheets. (Don't get me wrong, I love all the work that goes into making the handmade quilts we've slept under for years, but finally choosing your OWN style was exciting.) So.Softness. I've seen some complaints that it's not soft. Like I said, we've slept under well-laundered, handcrafted cotton duvets for years, which defines softness, and I'd still rate it as soft enough. It's obviously a bit stiffer, but comfortable overall. Weight: Comparable to a light quilt. I don't like heavy ceilings and this was perfect. I think I could sleep under it in the summer. In winter you will definitely need an extra layer. Appearance: Oh my stars, this is exactly what I wanted. Not a solid color, but not a color or pattern that would be stunning either. We received the navy blue/white and I found the colors to be true to the picture. The only disadvantage. This scatter is small. If you want a nice ledge on the sides and end of the bed, you MUST order one size up and get a king. Ultimately I'm not picky enough to try to send this back (plus I already prewashed it before putting it on our bed) but if I were to make it bigger I would up the size. We have maybe 3 inches of overhang in the leg and that without a full lift, maybe 6 on each side? Not enough to cover the sides of our mattress. Again not picky. I love the design so we're going to use it now, it'll end up in my kid's bed (our old full mattress) when he goes to college and make a lovely spare room.
