First, it's not dark brown. This is dark grey. If you place it next to the brown ones, it appears dark gray and the legs are plastic instead of wood. Other than that, it's actually a well-crafted eye-catcher. The stitching and tufting are very nice and without defects. It's actually taller than intended due to the extra legs, so it can't be used as an ottoman. This is much higher than the seat of a sofa or armchair. This is a good bench for extra seating and of course storage is always welcome. The hinge mechanism is excellent, the lid doesn't fall off, fingers are safe. My only other complaint would be that it wasn't sent with papers that would address a possible return. I'm trying this now because it's taupe and not brown. Update: Attempting to return this item costs $48. This is more than 1/3 of the original cost. Not worth the trouble. I will put it in the barn and put toys for the horses in it. The plastic legs keep it from touching the concrete and we can sit on it to put on and take off our boots.
