I bought this carrier for our chihuahua who is now 6 pounds. The carrier is smaller than I expected. It works now but I don't think it will be big enough when she grows up (10-12lbs) and I couldn't imagine our cat would fit well in it. But I guess it doesn't matter because it won't last that long. We've been using it for our 10 minute twice daily car ride for a week now and my dog has managed to tear a hole through the inner lining (which is a thin silky material) and rip out pieces of the foam lining. We have now cut out the silk lining and removed the foam. I can't imagine it holding up against a cat with sharper claws who wouldn't be thrilled with what's in this smaller than expected carrier either. average cat or dog, go for it.
