When you're done, turn the second section clockwise again and you can easily slide the sections back. You can actually adjust it to mid-height by just pulling out the sections you need and then snapping it into place, but it's impractical and you'll need to practice and play with it to make it work. But all the way up and down is easy. The weight is 296 g (10.44 oz), which is slightly heavier than the advertised 220 g. Still, it's almost the lightest tripod that can be mounted at 40 inches.
