Most of my straps are flat rope straps (or woven straps, it seems the same but in a different material) but the ones that had a sliding pin wore out fabric all the time , which means that the straps are no longer taut after a while. This uses a lever tooth mechanism for both the size adjuster and the latch. Does not slip, does not wear out the fabric. The strap is wider than my previous ones so I was concerned it might not fit through some of the strap loops but no issues so far. The latch doesn't open accidentally (an issue I've had with a similar mechanism in the past) and I've never pressed the wrong latch, even though it's so easy to work with either latch. I recommend buying a slightly longer belt than necessary and using a size adjuster to make up for the extra length.
