I replaced my regular 4 inch memory foam topper with this one and immediately felt more comfortable compared to the old one. I use it over the sofa bed so it's not perfect as I still know where the pieces fit, but it's nothing special and I can finally sleep. It's medium firm and I think it could only be firmer if it had springs and was a real mattress. I think we got the best matte topper we could get. It didn't smell too bad either, but I left it in the sun for a day anyway. It moves a bit on the couch so I have to put it back down in the morning when I make my bed, but nothing that might disturb my sleep. Maybe 2 inches or so.
