We used glue dots, glue stick and tape don't work very well.

I love this concept! I really wish there were many designs like the pom pom caterpillar. Even using branded glue, some parts will not stick together. (We used glue dots instead! Even good for gluing straws to paper animals!). There were typos in some places. One of the projects had the wrong stampings. I think we made a cow and got some punch instead. My daughter is two years old, she couldn't follow the instructions but with help she enjoyed collecting animals with glue. And then play with them. For the whistles you simply folded a piece of paper and glued the sides together.
