This keyboard is easy to use as a laptop extension, just plug into the USB A socket There is one person in our family who is sensitive to electricity and hold it can have this keyboard next to you and touch it with your fingers (keep away from the USB cable) but the electrical smell was too strong for that and that was after I aired it out. Down for a week and used in my own office for at least a month. That's the only downside and it deserves a full star. Otherwise, this keyboard works well, and it's good that there aren't any backlights on the keys and there are only three small status lights next to the keyboard. I will buy a second one and hope the smell was just an anomaly. Update 6/15/2021: The second keyboard has a similar electrical smell, so it's either component or manufacturing related. It's a shame, because "sensitive" people would want such a keyboard, but I can't recommend it to them. This works fine for me, but I'm not sensitive to either chemical or electrical effects.
