I have osteoarthritis (bone on bone) in both knees. A few years ago I also had an unsuccessful operation on my right knee and a partial rupture of ligaments in my left knee. I walk with a cane and climb stairs and have difficulty getting up and sitting in chairs. My knees hurt and are unstable. I was hoping these braces would help, they did. It is very easy to apply and adjust. My hips are big and this fits me well. It stays in place as I go about my business. It doesn't sting me anywhere and doesn't rub. It fits under my pants. Did it work wonders? No, but it made some movements easier and gave me a greater sense of security and stabilization in my knees. There is a feeling of support for my knees. It also makes stair climbing and stair climbing easier. At the end of the day my knees hurt less. If you feel the need to place your hand on the side of your knee and lean on it in a flexed position, this brace will provide you with similar support. My knees are not ready to give out so much emotion. I still have to be careful and use a stick because my knees are worn and damaged.
