Received this as an upgrade for my Yeti USB mic. I liked the Yeti, but I was never entirely satisfied with the sound I got from it. This is my first encounter with XLR microphones and I can say that I am very satisfied. The quality has improved a lot. A lot of this has to do with using a decent mixer and great XLR cables. I also needed phantom power. In any case, the richness of what Ember captures compared to Yeti is different day and night. There doesn't seem to be any hissing. I also have practically no noise in the room. This is the mic for those with raw rooms. He's very forgiving. You'll need a decent pop screen and a good shock absorber to get the most out of this mic. Blue does both, but I used alternatives. which I already had for the pop screen and ordered a shock that I could modify. The best usability, however, is using what was made for this microphone.
