Phenomenal massager. Still works like new after a few years. This is very helpful in effectively relaxing tense muscles. I use it regularly in the mornings to relieve back, shoulder, leg and even neck pain. When my back hurts, that's the first thing I do. I always use it before yoga or inversion table. This increases the effectiveness of other pain treatments I use. My legs don't cramp as much when doing yoga since I've been tapping them in front of my arm. This well built machine is great. I hope this one lasts forever because I will definitely buy another one if it ever breaks. Initially, I made the mistake of buying an oscillating massager. It really helped me relax, but not as well as this Thumper. The oscillating style has some disadvantages. #1 doesn't penetrate deep #2 too much blood comes to the surface causing itching #3 my wife will never use it on me because her hands get numb #4 it was a waste of money as I haven't used it after this one to buy knockers. The only area where the oscillator shines is when you need to use it on a bony area of the body. Thumper is too aggressive when he hits the bones. I avoided Thumper because of its price, fear of pinching, and reading reviews that you need someone to help you use it. Money is always a factor in the purchase, and when you need a therapeutic tool, who has a spouse ready and willing to help you? Most of us don't know. So initially I made the wrong choice. Oh yes, pinch. Well, you get pinched. Luckily, I've somehow (almost magically) learned to clap daily and very rarely pinch. Also, for me, the tingling is nothing compared to the back pain I experience. And that without outside help. So I strike alone. I have several ways of beating myself that work for me. #1 I place a pillow behind and under me while sitting on the couch. So I can lean on it without damaging the furniture. #2 I lean it against the armrest of the couch to tap my feet while leaning on the pillows. #3 I lean forward and balance on my upper back and neck. (By the way, I don't think you should use it on your neck.) I'm comfortable with it, though. I'm a man of average build (6ft and 200#) and I only need my wife's help when I'm completely twisted. I don't know how well this works on a very thin person who has more bones than muscles. . But this Thumper works great for me. I should have bought one a long time ago. It certainly isn't cheap, but I would have spent less money if I hadn't bought the oscillator first. I don't run the car for more than 20 minutes to avoid overheating. I want to prolong his life by taking care of him. I also try not to apply too much pressure as it seems it can reduce therapeutic effectiveness and wear it out. I try hard enough to hold it in place while leaning against the couch and picking it up so it doesn't fall over. It was pretty impressive when I discovered how heavy it is. To me, that's a sign of well-made equipment. For example, I had unnecessary exercises that are light and short-lived. If you have chronic back pain, shell out and buy one. helps. Especially if you're taking other steps toward a healthy body. I have other reviews that might interest you if you are dealing with back pain. Good luck finding relief.
