These pillows are so flattened under my knees that they are no more than 2 inches high when used individually. If I can manage to fold them up and keep them in a stack (in the shape of a cylinder) they create enough height to support my knee. However, this is not the right angle and causes pain. The cover is soft and if you need a soft memory foam pillow then this is a good choice. If you're looking for a firm pillow that will support your knees when you lie down or sit in bed, don't waste your money like me. It's fairly comfortable behind my neck, so it's another good use. Also, my kids are inexplicably fascinated by them and keep stealing them. I'm still looking for knee pads.
