Review on Quick Shine Hardwood Plant Based Restore Protect Refresh by Juan Harrington

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Light, effective and affordable hardwood shine.

I used it on the first floor of my house, which is made entirely of wood, about two years ago. When I bought the house I didn't like the boring look of the floors and wanted to find something that was relatively easy to install, secure and removable if needed. After several applications on floors (about twice a year but more often in high traffic areas) I was very satisfied. I have also improved my skills in using and caring for this product over these two years. These are my key points: • Never apply to a wet or damp surface. Or use it in combination with floor cleaner or even water. Follow the instructions they give. Apply to a dry and preferably completely dust free surface (although I have to admit I could use a bit of dust to actually top it off with a shine). Some customer complaints about leaving marks or stains are probably because they didn't follow Simone's rule. Mopping and drying floors thoroughly is really the key to the success of this product, don't be lazy. • Use a microfiber padded mop and use long, smooth strokes. Do not "wipe" the area after it begins to sag and dry out (and it dries quickly) or you will dull the surface or leave a stain. This is very similar to applying paint - do it quickly but carefully, using as few strokes as possible to get an even shine. • Do not apply too much for a shinier or smoother finish. Using too much at once will result in uneven drying and "haze". If you need fuller coverage or a higher shine, apply multiple coats and patiently wait for each coat to dry completely. • When applying, make sure that your mop or cloth does not start to dry. Again, just like painting, as your mop starts to dry, crumbs will appear all over the surface. In fact, it might not be noticeable from a distance, but you'll definitely feel the bumps in the surface. If your mop has been sitting for too long, simply rinse it out with warm water immediately and grab a dry mop to continue your work. Again, just like painting: wash your brush out immediately and never use a wet brush. • I would say that this product is fairly scratch and splash resistant. I can say with confidence that spilled water will not harm it even if left to dry. However, most common cleaners and acidic products destroy the finish. And it doesn't bother me too much because it's another indication that this is a relatively natural and safe product to handle and care for. If patches of erosion appear on the ground, do not try to "point fill" them. Reapply the product to an adequate area covering the stain and it will naturally attempt to fill in the 'sunken' stain.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
