I bought this thermometer for my baby. The instructions say to keep it at the same room temperature as the person who will be using it for at least 30 minutes to get the most accurate readings, but it worked fine without that instruction. I have a thermometer strip that goes across my forehead and this digital thermometer has matched every time I've tested it. Once this thermometer showed my babies had a temperature of 100, but I checked it again to make sure the temperature was lower after checking the forehead and ear twice.
