While a container can be airtight, compartments are not. I tried putting the fruit in one compartment and the sandwich in the other, but my daughter reported that the fruit had seeped into her sandwich, causing it to become soggy. I tried yogurt and the same thing happened. It might work for an adult if you carry it horizontally all the way to work, but it definitely wouldn't be recommended for kids unless you plan on packing all the kibble. I love how you can expand the compartments from four sections to two, three, or a whole section. It is easy to open and close. It's durable, but I'd love to find something that can safely hold fruit and/or yogurt.
