This is essential if you want to train properly!

UPDATE 1 year later: Over time the device was consuming batteries MUCH faster. I do not know why. As an experiment, I tried removing the battery after each use and that fixed the problem. From now on, I just take out the battery when I'm done, which isn't too inconvenient. You can check the battery level at any time in the app settings. Overall, after a year, I am still very satisfied with the device. What I use it for - I am a rower. I use this primarily with my Concept 2 rowing machine and it connected straight away to the PM5 on my machine. It also works flawlessly with the Concept2 app called ErgData, which records your workouts on your phone and then uploads them to the Concept2 online journal. Polar Beat app and website profile. You need to download the Polar Beat app and create an account, which will automatically sync your workouts to your account. Visit the website for more details. I'm using Android, I haven't had any issues with the app and I think the overall layout is clear, comfortable and not too bulky. I haven't had any connection issues either, and I RARELY ever had a loss of connection or hiccups on any readings. However, I wouldn't trust any data related to distance or pace. As you can see in my screenshot, my phone interpreted my straight path down the street as a full zigzag. As a result, distance and pace are not accurate. But I'm assuming it's my phone's GPS, which is wrong, and probably (?) not an app. Thankfully I'm not a runner so I personally don't bother with this issue, but I'm just pointing out that this might be an issue for some. As for accuracy, the accuracy of calories burned and exercise heart rate zones is based on more than just heart rate. , but if you know your maximum Vo2 and anaerobic threshold, you can enter this and other data into your profile via the website to improve overall accuracy (as shown in my screenshot). You can also analyze your individual workouts in more detail on the website and display them in a practical calendar. Strap Size - I have a 34 inch bust. M-XXL is 35 inches long when relaxed to its maximum *unstretched* length. When stretched it grows to 45 inches or so. So if your chest is no larger than 45 inches, M-XXL will fit you. Also, "turquoise" is completely BLUE, not aqua or greenish at all. :pPersonal use and opinion. This heart rate monitor quickly and completely took my health and fitness to the next level. I really regret not buying it sooner! When it comes to sports, I'm a high-intensity person. I became addicted to HIIT when I tried it many years ago. I never cared about endurance (long workouts with LOW heart rate) until I got this heart rate monitor and was told I needed to do more cardio to improve my basic aerobic fitness. It took me a lot of patience to slow down and actually keep my heart rate between 130 and 140. It turns out I've never really trained at an intensity that low. Though I found this low-intensity material useless, I stuck with it and was blown away by the results. Within just a week of starting long, sustained daily rowing (45m - 1 hour): - my resting heart rate dropped by about 5 beats - my blood pressure dropped to a completely normal level (I'm 35 years old, feeling great, but the doctors couldn't figure out why my blood pressure was consistently high, I guess I just needed a bit more aerobic conditioning!) and it was totally unexpected: my mental stress levels dropped dramatically. I suddenly had more patience throughout the day and even better control over my appetite. I felt like I was taking a cold pill. And that was just ONE week later. A month later: In addition to a noticeable improvement in the quality of life... My rowing speed (at the same heart rate) has already improved significantly since the beginning, which is direct evidence of an improvement in the cardiovascular system. Next: I recently did a very tough hike that I haven't done in about 7 years. Result: It was MUCH easier this time because my heart rate dropped much faster now, so I felt rested almost *immediately* when the altitude leveled off. Without using a heart rate monitor to monitor my workouts to properly build that basic aerobic fitness, NONE of this would be possible! (And by the way, the Polar Beat app recorded the entire 4-hour hike flawlessly, since my phone was tucked in my jacket pocket with the screen off and locked, and I never had to fiddle with it or double-check it.) Look, just buy it. Whether you are experienced or a beginner, never trust your "perceived effort". Does NOT replace actual data. I've spent SO MANY years robbing myself of a higher level of fitness! To get fit you need a combination of high and low intensity, not just one or the other. And for that you need a heart rate monitor. It's SO easy: choose your workout and just stay in your zones! :) I hope it helps!
