The instructions for this cable set are a bit annoying. Obviously this is a third party product that has been repackaged, repurposed and resold. I know this because the instructions that came with it were for wrapping the cord around household pipes. I had to go to the website for specific instructions on how to install the bowl. The main problem with this heater is that it is located at the bottom of the bowl. As a result, the top of the bowl can still freeze if it gets cold enough. Sometimes I have to go outside and scoop a thin layer of ice off the surface of the water. I haven't had really cold days yet. I live in central Ohio, so it takes a serious cold snap to get below 25 degrees. We didn't have any this year. I'll let you know if we get serious cold weather to see how he handles it. UPDATE: Yeah, he didn't handle it very well. Yes, the bottom of the bowl stays liquid, but if the top of the bowl freezes, what's the use? Basically, it helps at a temperature of about 25-32, and then it's almost useless.
