Because it's not 100% transparent, some good detail will disappear if your iPad has a sticker on it. Transparency approx. 93%. I needed a case to protect my sticker. It's not the best case for something like this. The case on the sides is so inflexible that I thought I'd ruin the decals on the sides if I tried to apply it all the way. The matte back offers some extra grip, but nothing significant. It is durable and sturdy. I'm not sure how this will soften the hit on the iPad. I'm sorry.
