This cable worked for me. My guess is that people who say the pinout is wrong or that it doesn't work either got the wrong product or misused it. This cable is for connecting an *unused* CPU power cable to the GPU power supply. It adapts the pinout of the stock 8-pin CPU power cable (EPS 12V) to one that can be used to power the GPU. This works well for people using mining rigs with dual power supplies. Otherwise, unused CPU power slots can be used to provide VGA/PCIE power to additional GPUs. The female end connects to any CPU/EPS12V cable that comes with the power supply. The pin ends connect to your GPU.
