As an avid hammock lover, I was dying to try this hammock with its self-supporting mosquito net and strut design. My last two hammocks were budget 2 person hammocks but still well made with strong features. I converted one of these into a half bridge hammock, but technically it could be classified as a bridge hammock with its struts. First I'll talk about the good ones, but there are bad problems too. Firstly, installation is super easy thanks to the built in brackets which support the net and give you a much less obstructed view when looking up from your mount without the usual creases you get when hanging the net from a cord . They feel a lot roomier inside than with mesh, which can sometimes hang tight against your face. Apart from inserting the struts into the sewn-in sleeves, the hammock is set up very quickly overall. The sewn-in sleeves look a bit wavy, but with a little patience, the lamellae will slide in. After you've chosen your trees, it may take some time to set up the tree straps properly to get the hanger right. Too loose and you will sag and feel uncomfortable in the hammock. Too much spacing will cause the hammock components to become overstretched. With a typical hammock, you should try to lie diagonally across the hammock to be able to lie flat. While there is enough space to handle it alone, it would be impossible with two people. The entire hammock weighs only 2.8 pounds, perfect for hiking. It actually weighs about the same as my other 2 person hammock, although this hammock is a few inches shorter and not as wide. was easily upgraded. The included carabiners are rated at 1100 pounds and weigh 60 grams compared to traditional 12kN carabiners which weigh 22 grams and can handle over 2500 pounds. Gives you much more peace of mind while saving a few ounces. The straps that came with it are almost twice as thin as the ones that came with my other two hammocks so you definitely won't feel safe in the hammock. They supported my 160lb frame well, but I'm not sure I'd try it with two people. You will feel a stretch as you climb into the hammock with your full weight. As for the stainless steel support brackets, you need to be very careful with them as they should pop out of the bag, there is a rubber stopper that can easily fall off. If you lose them, the sharp end of the metal will almost certainly pierce the bag. If you're an experienced hiker, hopefully you always have duct tape on hand to cover the ends if needed. Unzip it and leave it hanging behind you, or simply flip the hammock over so the entire net is down. If you happen to be camping in buggy areas, you'll need to use a pillow or duvet to prevent mosquitoes from biting you through the fabric underneath. In addition, a blanket is essential if you want to lie in a hammock in a climate where temperatures drop below 60 degrees at night. A raincoat is also usually required when camping in case it rains. Depending on the weather, they can also serve as good wind or sun protection. Overall, I like this hammock design with struts and a self-supporting net as the whole setup takes a lot less effort than just hanging the net on cords. . Not sure if this is comfortable for sleeping 2 full size adults, but I'll have to check later. I will be upgrading the carabiners and harness but the real test will come in a couple of weeks on a multi-day hike in the mountains. I will let you know if there are any quality issues with the fabric and stitching but for now this looks like a promising camping hammock!
