My elderly cat has arthritis problems so if he steps on something and it shakes a bit he won't fit in it. It is also quite large so perfect for him as there is a good sized plush bed upstairs and the apartment is big enough for him. It's also the perfect height to place it in front of a window without feeling like I'm giving up my own view. I definitely wouldn't buy it to do the job of a scratching post as the rope is quite low for that, but other than that I'm very happy with the quality and stability for use as a raised cat bed/apartment.
