I found exactly the car I was looking for for my student son. The latest low mileage sedan at a reasonable price. I didn't pay any attention during the purchase process and noticed that the car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. However, my sniffer doesn't work that well. So we bought a car and brought it home. Parked it in the garage all weekend with the windows down and two large fans in the car. We dusted the carpets with baking soda and left them overnight before vacuuming. I took out the floor mats, washed them with a regular household cleaner and rinsed them thoroughly. Then we wiped down all hard surfaces with heavily scented dryer sheets and left some dryer sheets in the car. None of this worked. The car still smelled like wet bar at 3am. So I tried these things. I bought a pack of 2 and left one in the front seat cup holder and the other in the back seat cup holder. That was about a week ago. I arrived today to move the car and the only thing that greeted me was the smell of the Ozium product. Some people comment that it's too spicy, but I didn't find it that way. I had to sit in the car and think about cigarette smoke for a minute before I thought I might have sniffed a bit. The fact is, these things really do eliminate the smell, not just mask it. I believe it will go away completely in a week or so. When they wear out I'll probably put another one in the car in the long run just to be sure. I thought our previous efforts would certainly have eliminated the smoke smell, but they didn't. These things do their job. To be honest I'm surprised at how well they work.
