The instructions on the packaging are not written in the best English. They are obvious enough to understand. The shark-shaped shower handle requires batteries. It doesn't come with batteries. When I put my own batteries in, I had to remove four screws from the back. Around the same time, I realized that there was no such thing as a waterproof case for batteries. It doesn't seal 100%. Because of this, I was already nervous about using it with my grandchildren. The instructions say not to submerge in water. The whole idea, it seemed to me, was for the kids to have a little shower hose to play with in the tub. It's just not true. This device is intended for use by adults. The child doesn't have to deal with it. Therefore, there is a good chance that a tug of war will ensue. The weight at the bottom where the water is sucking up the line isn't heavy enough. You should push him further down and even weigh him down if possible. Once the water is pumped, it exits through the shark's mouth. It is turned on and off by a large tooth in the shark's mouth. Does it work as it should? Short answer: yes. My issue with the device is the safety of the battery compartment which cannot be wetted. It also means that the child cannot hold or play with it. I have no idea if three batteries can generate enough power to damage the tub, but I have no intention of finding out either. I was uncomfortable using it with my young grandkids so I tested it in the bath without them. I filled the tub and it worked as intended. The instructions also state that the user of the device must remove the batteries and dry everything after each use. Serious. This is absurd and not real. It should be a fun shower handle for kids to play with and parents to wash their kids with. I worry it's too dangerous with a battery case that barely protects them from getting wet. I don't find it safe or convenient to remove the battery after each use.
