Our cats are getting older and the window in our room has a high sill. I often see them discussing whether or not a difficult jump is worth it, and when they jump they tend to leave scratch marks on the wall. The multiple tiers of this scratching post serve as the perfect ladder for aging cats. I also expected them to reject the "new" smell that most products bring into the house, but it was really faint and they started using wood before I even had time to spray catnip on it. Without instructions, assembly would not have been a matter of course. , but all parts are clearly marked on the parts themselves, in the parts list and on the diagrams. They even included extra screws of each type so we had no issues. Two of us built it together in ten or fifteen minutes. It seems very durable; I'm not sure a very large cat would do well in a side basket, but ours has chosen to ignore the basket so far and everything else is fine. There are bare screw heads at the base. So if you're laying them on wood or tile, be prepared with something to cover the screws, keep the wood from sliding, and protect your floors. We used glue grips and they do the trick.
