Review on πŸŽ’ Optimized for SEO: AmazonBasics Lightweight Hiking Backpack, Easily Packable by Becky Stewart

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The lack of structural support gives it an odd shape and crumpled appearance

The ultralight backpack from RevainBasics is quite unique - it combines the qualities of a traditional high capacity backpack with shoulder straps and the versatility of a drawstring/bag, which is ultra light and foldable. It seems like the best of both worlds, right? Well, somehow I wasn't too impressed with how it performed in real life, and here's my take on why: DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY: The backpack is made from a two-ply textured nylon fabric, similar to what you'll find on drawstring bags or umbrellas The entire backpack easily folds into a bag attached to the main compartment. The shoulder straps are relatively comfortable given the backpack's light weight and collapsible nature and are well padded with thick mesh material. In addition to a very spacious main compartment, there is a front zip and two large side bottle pockets. The zippers slide smoothly and look very high quality. USAGE (CONS): The biggest issue I felt with using the backpack was that due to its portable/foldable nature, it doesn't have any structural supports like plastic tubes or even a cardboard base. It's literally just fabric sewn into the shape of a backpack. That means they take the form of what you put into them. If you use clothes, they will inflate well and return to their original shape (as shown in the product photos), but if you put something heavy or hard like a tray or lunch box inside, the bag will sag under the weight and look uncomfortable. . I find that gym bags hold their shape better in that regard. Even with reinforced stitching, shoulder straps and large capacity, the bag is only suitable for light use. It works well for storing lots of clothing but doesn't hold much weight as the weakest link here is the fabric, not the joints/straps. I felt like it had more room to handle (clothes ok) because you wouldn't stuff it too full due to the thin fabric. giving it a strange limp shape again. The fabric stays wrinkled and doesn't look smooth like the photos. THE GOOD: There are several good aspects of this backpack that make it useful in certain situations. full to fit in your pockets. Have a nice day at the beach/park/zoo.- I am dark blue in color, it's much darker and looks better than the product photos.- The shoulder straps are soft and comfortable for portability, good resistance. FINAL THOUGHTS: I feel like this backpack is in a bit of an odd place - it's big and made like a backpack, but doesn't have the durability or sleek shape/look. It has the portability and versatility of a drawstring bag, but won't hold its shape unless fully filled. In the end it gives me conflicting feelings which is why I give it 3 stars.
