I ordered both sizes and honestly found them to be lifesavers. Personally, I thought it was great, even with severe swelling. I'll be having ankle surgery soon, but BEFORE they found the tears I used these instead of hiking boots. At home it was much nicer and I felt like it supported me and I wasn't afraid my ankle would give out! With that in mind, be careful as the floor can be slippery on hardwood floors and tiles. That's its only flaw, if you think it's a flaw. I couldn't wear it with sneakers but it worked great with big boots and clogs. I actually spent a lot of time sleeping in it for the first few weeks with no problems. The velcro is strong and I never felt it was too tight or too loose. Being on your feet a lot can give you extra confidence or even peace of mind if you have a weak ankle!
