Review on πŸ§— Half Dome Climbing Helmet by Black Diamond Equipment: Optimized for SEO by Ted Slaughter

Good only for protection from light impacts

I would like to do a disservice not to write a review (there are surprisingly few if any on this helmet) The first thing that struck me was, that the helmet looks like this on very cheap lightweight plastic. This is probably pretty good if you're on a serious mountaineering trip and don't want to be weighed down too much. It can be as thin as 2.5mm and the foam padding only protects the top of the head. (Think brow bones down to the lambdoid seam) The harness is made from good, well constructed webbing and has a fit adjustment at the back for comfort. The helmet wobbles a bit but is securely fastened to the head which I think is great for maneuvering into tight spaces when climbing or reducing impact injuries. It should also be noted that the helmet appears a little high on the head (at least the top goes a little higher than expected). I think this helmet has a very limited scope (see: Climbing / Climbing / Rescue) and unfortunately doesn't work for me. I was looking for something more versatile.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I will write later
