Homemade OTA Portable Signal Meter

I need to adjust my OTA TV antennas for better reception but I don't want to spend more than $300 for a professional handheld signal meter. I've tried cheap handheld devices with a meter but they pick up any RF signal like cell towers, FM radio stations and anything else including TV stations. As a result, I adapted the Winegard Sensor Pro to work as a portable meter that I can use on the roof. As it was designed to fit a standard wall hole I fitted a plastic electrical box along with a 12v battery from a Dewalt power tool. I added some F-connectors but I still need to add a power switch as the Winegard is always on. It works fine for my needs as long as I don't throw it off the roof.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I'll add it later
