I had several 3 gang boxes in my bathroom that needed to be replaced with 4 gang boxes and I didn't want to use the modified boxes with ledges. I hate modified boxes with screw lugs. They can be difficult to work with, and there are many ways to ruin them with bent tabs, tabs that won't rotate into place, weak drywall, or holes that are easily oversized. It was the perfect alternative. I will never use these modified tabbed fields again. The box is securely attached to the stud with screws. If you made the hole too big, simply center the box and as long as the switch plate covers it, you're done. They outperform other modded boxes in another important way: I can use them on double 5/8 drywall! There was a crooked junction box in the wall of my apartment that has been bothering me since I moved in, but I wasn't sure how to fix that with a modified box due to the increased drywall thickness. One of these boxes saved the day!
