I was fed up with the rattling of remote controls in my car so I decided to treat myself and buy one of these mirrors for my 2017 Toyota Tacoma. As described it was literally plug and play. There is a screw attached to the rear of the mirror that holds the factory mirror, windshield and wiring harness. Erase them, replace them with a new mirror and viola! Ready. It is also very easy from a programming point of view. Setting up the compass requires moving in a circle (or rotating three dots in my case), and programming the buttons on the remote was as easy as pressing and holding a button on the mirror and remote at the same time until it happened. The whole process literally took less than 10 minutes from start to finish. The car is much less cluttered and quieter when there are no remote controls. The only strange thing about it is probably the muscle memory. My hands keep reaching for remote controls that no longer exist! lol. In any case, it is recommended. The price is definitely enough to make you cringe, but I'd say it was worth it in the end.
