For years I have used velcro to tie cords and other things, but these ties hold SO well it is very difficult to unwrap the velcro and untie the cord. As for the headphone cords (you know, the ones that never shrink while running), I tried all sorts of ways to tie the extra cord to keep it from hanging around. work great. Since the headphone cables are thin and light, the smallest magnetic tie compensates for sagging and never comes loose. However, with a really heavy cable, you may find that the outer pressure of the cable is too magnetic for a medium-sized cable. Some jobs need velcro! But despite all my thinner and more flexible cords, the magnetic tapes hold them well. Remember that magnets are always magnets. So if you bring a magnetic tie to metal objects, it will be attracted. You can be left with the twine you wrap and a few staples. You should not place it on or near anything with a magnetic stripe. But that's just common sense. When used correctly, these magnetic tapes are simple and effective.
