USB output is mono not stereo

I bought this board in January 2021 hoping to use it to digitize my family's old nylon record collection. I also just wanted to experiment with better microphones and audio inputs. However, after a few recordings I noticed that the stereo left/right separation was not retained in the recordings. All tracks 1 and 2 from the PC board were mixed together and they were exactly the same. This does NOT refer to the audio being mixed on the board itself, but to the main outputs which are FULL stereo sound. In addition, the PC/USB playback was also in stereo and sounded good. Basically, I believe this is a manufacturing defect built into the board, not a defect in my particular board. At least one other reviewer said the same thing. As a general rule, do not buy this board if you intend to record stereo music to USB. However, this board works for the following use cases: - live music mixing - playing digital music from a PC (as a DAC for your PC) - audio recording where you don't need stereo sound (e.g. voice recording). It's a shame because otherwise I found this board a joy to use. Nice features include: - Sturdy knobs and controls with a nice touch. - ability to merge/mix left/right mic (which was a pointless feature when recording to USB) - heavy board so it doesn't move - good metal construction - good sound reproduction from PC when playing digital music. In other words, the built-in DAC isn't bad.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Vulgarity
