I read both good and bad reviews about this bag sealer and decided to order it. I was hoping it would just work and make my life easier. And it definitely worked. First, it was well packed in foam so nothing was bent. Further instructions were very easy to follow - a big plus. Best of all, I was able to fill and seal about 20 mylar bags in one evening without help (as my wife was recovering from dental surgery). I can't imagine this could be done with an iron or any other less convenient instrument. After about two days, the oxygen absorbers I put in the bags drew out enough oxygen to make the bags appear like a vacuum seal. I believe the things in it will come in handy for years to come and I have hidden them. Therefore, packing groceries for future emergencies is much cheaper than buying pre-packaged groceries. I also have some of these for a change, but buying just pre-packaged and cooked meals for a long time costs a fortune. This method is great for staples like rice, beans, oatmeal, etc. I also took a tip from another review I read and bought a couple of steel trash cans with lids to store these items. It's a lot easier than using 5 gallon buckets, you can just keep throwing sacks and the metal cans will most likely keep any potential critters away.
