I bought this to solve a sound problem on a new iPhone (no headphone jack) in an old car (no bluetooth audio). My previous setup consisted of two cables, one TRS (stereo) male to male cable and the other a USB to Lightning charging cable. This will be an update; 50% fewer cables from my console to my phone so I was thrilled. Which took about 5 minutes. The first issue I noticed was that plugging in the USB end of the cable caused the audio to stop playing on my iPhone 12, almost like it was trying to play via USB; It obviously doesn't receive data via USB, as it plugs into a 12V "cigarette lighter" port. The second hit was about 20 minutes after my first disc, and the iPhone stopped playing as if the cable had come loose. I pressed the play button again and audio came out of the iPhone speakers, so I reconnected the cable. It played for a few minutes and then stopped. Reversing the cable gives slightly better results but still cuts from time to time. So. It doesn't play sound or charge at the same time, at least not the cable I got, and when it does play it just plays for a random amount of time before needing to be plugged back in. I will definitely be returning this item.
