Review on 🌡️ Thermaltake Gravity i2 CPU Cooler for Intel LGA 1200/1156/1155/1150/1151, 95W, 92mm CLP0556-D by Sean Flint

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great budget cooler

I have bought 3 of these from Revain over the past few years and each has served me better than I thought and always seem to be just what I need when I need them. . The first two came in off the shelf office style PCs which were laden with dust and the standard coolers were barely up to the task to begin with and either fell off or were dusty and had to be replaced. This cooler was compatible with the backplate that several LGA 1150 and LGA 1151 devices already had, so installing it after removing the old cooler was very easy and I didn't have to use the included backplate. In terms of performance, it won't be the best in the world for €12, but it's not too bad for the price either. It's rated at 95W and in fact I've got mine right now on the i7-6700K which maxes out at around 75W (if I'm CPU-heavy) and if I'm running between 90-100% CPU utilization for a long time If I have time of about an hour then it will be around the mid 60s C which is admittedly a bit high but not worth worrying about. This is a computer that spends most of its time not at maximum load, but the processor rarely sweats and most often "cools down" around 50 ° C. With normal to medium use I rarely go above 60°C and with basic/light use I reach 28-40°C. Any time you install a new cooler, it will initially get a little warm as the thermal paste sets. So play a few games for a day or two before really getting into the temperature. Those temperatures may seem high, but this is a cyberpower case with admittedly very poor airflow. I removed the old single 120mm liquid cooler as I just upgraded to an RTX 3090 and I'd rather shave the lifespan of my already 6 year old CPU a bit than risk any leak on my very expensive GPU. On top of that, the liquid cooler has only been used sporadically in the last 6 years and did not bring any thermal improvement compared to this cheap air cooler. I might end up replacing it with something bigger, but it shows that you can even play i7 with one of these from time to time and it will work. If you do a lot of PC work then this is a great item to have on your shelf as you never know when you might need a CPU cooler!
