Review on πŸ“· Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens - Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Nurul ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best thing for the money, I'm glad I chose this option.

Actually, above impressions I have already written. I went through several portraits, three 85 ki from Nikon and Sigma, the legendary 135/2 from Nikon, even tried 70-200 VRll for the role of a portrait, and finally decided on this 105 ku. I’ll note right away that in terms of a FR distance of 105 mm, 135 ki is much more convenient and at the same time can replace 85 mm, i. E. some versatility in the television range. In terms of quality and optical properties, 105 ka is inferior to Sigma 85 art in everything, but it compensates for this with the softness and plasticity of the picture. Perhaps, if it was possible to shoot all the scenes at 105, I would definitely choose this Nikon. Well, as always, all of the above is my personal opinion, which does not claim to be the "opinion of last resort." I will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Pros
  • - a chic picture - the concept is of course subjective, but frames from this lens are recognizable, as well as with Nikon 135 / 2dc and Canon 85 / 1.2. - high optical qualities - aberrations are clearly dosed just enough so that the picture is not sterile, the sharpness is very good from an open aperture, and at the same time there is no excessive rigidity in the portraits. The same Sigma 85 art gives better control over aberrations, has more sharpness in the open and gives a rather hard and very detailed picture in the portrait, which does not allow it to be called a pure portrait. Nikon 105 /1.4 is an exceptional portrait lens, with an amazing pattern and the necessary softness, while being sharp, detailed and with sufficient contrast. - AF accuracy - the lens is not in a hurry in focusing (compared to Sigma art 85mm and Nikon 24-70), but extremely accurate, misses in the open when paired with the d850 are minimal, regardless of lighting conditions and shooting distance.
Cons
  • - the material from which the lens is made, unfortunately, it feels and looks exactly the same as 35 / 1,8dx (adjusted for dimensions) - plastic for the sake of weight (most likely). - weight, but this is a design feature, a competitor from sigma weighs more - the price. here you can argue on the one hand a plastic lens assembled in China with the usual delivery kit at a very impressive price, on the other hand the best professional portrait lens in the system, with a recognizable pattern and excellent characteristics. I found a compromise - I bought a used one in a trusted store - not fast focusing.

Has pros: Gorgeous lens. Awesome drawing for portraits. Its cons: Weight, but that's relative. The price is also relative.
