The silicone on this band is soft and stretches slightly, making it comfortable to wear and preventing it from slipping on the hand (an issue they've found with other bands for this and others has experienced clocks). It's also completely waterproof, which comes in handy when she works in the hospital and washes her hands often. The only criticism is the uncomfortable dressing. Since the free end of the strap needs to be tucked under the other side and the silicone sticks a bit to your skin, this can be a problem. However, it also eliminates the need for a loop or loops to hold that loose end, which she usually tears and loses fairly quickly, so all in all it's probably a flush and she'd certainly consider getting another of those if this is the case one needs to be replaced.
