Review on Acer G246HL Abd 24" LED Monitor - 1920X1080, 60Hz, Tilt Adjustment by John Bharudin

Very good monitor for the price

I bought this to replace an old LCD monitor. Dude, this new monitor is bright! When delivered, the brightness is set to 100%; I reduced it to 30%. The colors are bright and clear and the contrast is very good. I play a lot of PC games and the games look great. The backlighting of the monitor is pleasant, also across the entire surface. The menu controls are a bit difficult to understand. It took me five minutes of playing with them to get it (I never read the manual). This shouldn't be too much of a problem as you'll likely set it up once or twice and never touch it again. The power button is a round, raised piece of clear plastic that hangs from the lower-right side of the case and glows blue when it's on. Very easy to find in the dark, whether the monitor is on or off. VGA and DVI-D inputs (no HDMI). There are no speakers either, which is great; Monitor speakers are wasted in my opinion. Standalone speakers are much more economical. The power cord has an external brick. This likely makes the monitor's design thin and light, helping it stay cooler. My last monitor had an internal power supply so it could use standard power cords (the kind your PC probably has). This monitor has its own power cord. There are actually four cables in the box; everything you need to connect it to your PC's video output. The four cables are the power cord, power adapter, DVI cable, and VGA cable. Some manufacturers save money by not giving you the cable you need to connect to your computer. So it's nice to have these cables included. My biggest complaint about the monitor is that the stand only raises the screen 2.5 inches from your desk. I'll have to buy a monitor stand (or improvise something, which is more likely) The monitor has four standard screw holes on the back for arm or wall mounting. I've only used it for a day, but so far it's a very impressive monitor.
