Feeding a group of feral cats from my front porch. They come twice a day, fill up on food and water, take a quick nap in the little cat houses I have, and then return to their colony. A few weeks ago in Texas there was a crazy snowfall and a sharp drop in temperature. The cats kept coming back to eat, but sometimes all they found was a bowl of ice and a bowl of snow. I changed it throughout the day to keep it melting but I lost that fight. So I bought these heated bowls. I think I got the last ones before they sold out. They are amazing. They keep water and food at room temperature no matter how cold it is outside. never hot The cats took it well. Immediately after I received the shells, we experienced deadly frost here. Single digit temperatures (which Texas isn't equipped to handle). It was too cold for the cats to go out every day, so I wanted to make sure they didn't make the long journey in vain as they braved the cold to get something to eat. Thus, these bowls provided edible food and unfrozen drinking water. And the power cord is long enough. Some people worry that the cables are too short. It is durable and weather resistant. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that after sitting for a few days the bowl gives off this strange smell. It's a chemical smell, like freshly washed sheets or new plastic or something. It got to the point where cats didn't dare to drink water and sometimes even gave up water altogether. I washed the bowl regularly, but even after washing the smell stayed on my hands. (It wasn't an unpleasant smell to me, but definitely repulsive to cats.)
