It's really very nice. I wouldn't trust cup holders for anything that doesn't have a closed lid, but I still didn't want to use them. The back must be supported, it is not free. I placed mine against the back of the bed where there was a small gap between the mattress and it fell into the gap like any pillow. With good back support although I really liked it.
