I bought this specifically for my vintage bakelite bracelets so I needed something permanent. Since Bakelite bracelets can be heavy, I like both sides. Of course I have to lift, remove and then replace the other pieces to get one in the middle, but personally I still put everything on my bed when making my stack. In any case, it's not as problematic as two/three rows that only have a center strip; They tend to break and wobble over time. The only thing to note is that there is less room in the center for thicker or irregularly shaped bracelets, so stack them accordingly! Very easy to set up and I liked that the layers were thicker. Overall SUPER happy with my choice and it looks great on my vanity.
