The back is quite thick and durable. It's good to provide maximum protection for your iPad. To me, that doesn't make the iPad fatter or bulkier. The front panel looks a little cheaper so I'm not sure if it offers the best protection so make sure you get a screen protector. When I first opened the package, the lid had a very strange plastic smell. It was so strong that I had to wipe it off many times. Corner dampers are good. But I find the extra plastic padding in place of the power button is a little too much. This small area could be left open or less material could be used. When I turn my device on/off or do a hard reset, I get uncomfortable with this extra stuff. The front cover does not have a strong magnet closure. It still holds up well if you want to prop your iPad up, but it still doesn't feel like it will hold up. In general the product is good. The front panel can even be removed and reinserted if you only need the back panel. The champagne color goes great with my gold iPad.
